At Buckford Illumination Group, we view sustainability as a balance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Guided by the UN Sustainability Goals, our materiality analysis and overarching goals shape our commitment to making informed decisions across all aspects of our operations.

We are committed to collaborating with our suppliers to embed circular economy principles into their operations and prioritise transparency. Our suppliers aim to provide life cycle assessments and Environmental Product Declarations to effectively communicate the impact of their products.

We aim to provide human-centric lighting, putting people at the centre of the design. In numerous projects our goal is to deliver solutions that align with WELL Building Standard to create a more intentional space.

How we are making an impact
Our purpose is to provide exceptional lighting solutions that enrich people’s lives. This guides our business practices internally and externally. We ensure we focus beyond standards and prioritise the influence lighting has on the life of humans and the environment. Our lighting solutions not only considers the client and end user, but we also ensure we are conscious of wildlife, light pollution, only putting light where it needs to be and minimising glare.
We will reconsider a lighting solution if it doesn’t enhance people’s lives, and our team will work collectively to find an exceptional solution that does. We ensure we deliver only the right lighting solution for the project.
Our manufacturers align with our environment and sustainability goals with some holding certifications including Ecovadis, Cradle2Cradle and DarkSky Approved.
Where possible, we choose local Australian manufacturers, contributing to local sustainability efforts and reducing the environmental cost of transportation.
To achieve carbon-neutral we have been collaborating with Equilibrium environmental services for annual reporting. Travel is the single largest contributor to our carbon emissions profile. To reduce the impact of necessary travel, we purchase carbon credits directly through the designated airlines.
We utilise a carbon neutral energy supplier to purchase carbon credits equal to the greenhouse gas emissions delivered to our business, offsetting our emissions. These carbon credits meet the requirements of Climate Active, an Australian Government initiative. Additionally, Casambi controlled office to ensure all lights automatically switch off during office closure hours.
We have a recycling program in our office and warehouse with clearly labelled separate bins. Additionally, cardboard boxes are repurposed for packaging purposes to minimise waste
We are currently undertaking the process to become B-Corp accredited to measure our social and environmental impact.
