Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre

The Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre in Berrin/Gambier offers spaces for sports, recreation, and community events, making it a welcoming place for all to enjoy. The name Wulanda means ‘enjoy or cherish’ in the Bunganditj language and acknowledges the Boandik peoples as the Traditional Owners of the land where the centre stands. This new consolidated complex replaces ageing aquatics and sporting facilities, bringing multiple community-focused spaces under one roof.

Within the centre, a new indoor pool hall houses a 25m lap pool, a program pool for special-needs groups, a learn-to-swim pool, and a splash pad. Buckford Illumination Group supplied WE-EF LIGHTING PFL540 fittings to deliver ambient light that can be adjusted to suit sensitive users, creating a specialist sensory adaptable space. The fittings positioned at the outer perimeter of the pool, minimising glare and reflections on the water’s surface, enhancing the overall safety within the environment.

We are proud to share that the Wulanda Recreation and Community Centre won ‘Community Facility of the Year’ at the 2023 Parks and Leisure SA/NT Region Awards of Excellence. The Parks and Leisure Australia Regional Awards of Excellence celebrate the outstanding initiatives and innovative efforts of ‘the people behind the places,’ promoting good use of leisure time for numerous social, environmental, and economic benefits to the community.
