What was once an empty station box 25 metres below ground has been transformed into the state-of-the-art underground metro station, Crows Nest—a key part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest line. Designed to blend in with the surrounding village character of Crows Nest and St Leonards, the station is set to reshape how passengers move through the city.
Buckford Illumination Group NSW played a major role in lighting this new station, supplying WE-EF LIGHTING to enhance both form and function.
On the exterior, ETC340-GB uplights & OLV330 wall lights create a grazing effect, enhancing the warmth and texture of the brickwork façade. DOR120 downlights provide targeted illumination under canopies, ensuring safe and inviting entrances.
Inside the station, VLR140 linear wallwashers highlight the walls above the train platforms, creating a soft ambience, while DOC140 downlights are seamlessly integrated into the station’s geometric architectural cut outs of the ceiling—keeping fittings discreet while providing general illumination to ensure safe passenger movement.
With 10,100 passengers expected to pass through each morning, Crows Nest Station isn’t just a transport hub—it’s a carefully crafted space where lighting, design, and movement come together.
