Bondi Beach Pavilion
Lighting Design: Electrolight
Photography: Jackie Chan
The Bondi Pavilion has been a cornerstone of Bondi Beach life for over 90 years, offering a diverse range of experiences. Now, with a 5-star sustainability rating and considered acknowledgment of the First Nations people of the region woven into its design, the reimagined Pavilion and Parkland is a testament to both its legacy and a more modern, dynamic cultural hub.
With its heritage listing and many architectural features to accentuate, ensuring mounting options could meet the rules and regulations of the site demanded the adoption of a multifaceted lighting strategy for the building and surrounding parklands.
Additionally, Waverley Council focused on selecting luminaires capable of withstanding the salt-laden and corrosive air surrounding the beachfront institution. Understanding the risks associated with the tough Australian coastal conditions, the Council required a minimal maintenance and robust, reliable lighting solution.
Given these challenges, Electrolight specified a combination of WE-EF Lighting architectural, street, and area luminaires. Buckford Illumination Group NSW supported the delivery of these fittings to illuminate the iconic beachside structure and its surroundings, some of which have been used in very creative, unique applications.
Buckford Illumination Group NSW and WE-EF LIGHTING are thrilled to have been involved in delivering the Electrolight lighting scheme for Waverley Council at this stunning, iconic community space. This achievement is something the Waverley Council of NSW should be incredibly proud of.
