Meet Con New Business Development Manager

Meet Con, Buckford Illumination Group NSW newest Business Development Manager. Con has almost 20 years’ experience in the lighting industry, beginning his career in Europe as an electrical and lighting engineer and working for some of the top lighting brands in Romania and the UK in a variety of roles from internal sales, lighting designer, commissioning engineer, project management, and doing business development for the last 8 years in Australia.

Introduce yourself and describe your role at Buckford.
My name is Constantin Stanciu, but you can call me Con ( saves everyone about 2 days per year just by doing that 😊 ).  My background is Romanian, arrived in Australia 8 years ago and proud to call myself an Aussie as well now; My role is Senior Business Development Manager with BIG NSW, looking after specification market and opening new doors with engineers, architects, councils  etc in NSW lighting industry.

What’s something that has surprised you about your chosen career path?
Being in sales and loving it. Starting as electrical and lighting engineer, working as a lighting designer, technical sales support, project manager, commissioning engineer etc for some of the main lighting brands in Europe, that opened my path to start working in a sales environment. Moving forward from an introvert perspective, a sales role helped tremendously in developing my extrovert side as well.

What motivates you?
Doing the right things and the things right, also learning something new every day.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Photography and camping.

If you had an extra hour in your day, how would you spend it?
Playing in the park with my little boy.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
The only way to ‘find out if it will work out’ is to do it
